Kim Gwang Suk, UB, Asian Games 1990

I know Kim Gwang Suk wasn’t perfect, but she was pretty fucking fabulous … those handstands are slaying me. I sincerely hope she is healthy and happy in whatever she does now.

I love this routine. She was also pretty amazing on floor and beam, too, when you take into consideration how young she was when we saw her compete.

The counter-Kim is still probably one of my absolute favorite skills on bars, even though it’s pretty much never done. Whenever she does it, it’s just like…”Tkatchev, Tkatchev again…oh wait!” and I think that’s pretty cool.
